Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion

The Pathology residency training program at Cooper University Health Care (CUHC) is committed to recruit a diverse group of mission-driven residents that represent and celebrate the multiple dimensions of our community, including, but not limited to race, creed, ethnicity, sexual orientation, gender identity, ability, or age.

Our Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine has a strong, diverse faculty, many with prior experience in resident education while working at other institutions. The faculty includes the underrepresented in medicine (URiM), which ensures a welcoming, equitable, and fair educational environment. Moreover, our faculty members serve on the Diversity in the Learning Environment Committee; receive unconscious bias and antiracism training; participate in the Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion plan of the Department of Pathology, which includes discussion of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion issues at the monthly department meeting.

The program will be associated with Cooper Medical School of Rowan University that has a similar commitment to diversity and inclusion and may serve as a valuable pipeline of diverse trainees who are already familiar with the needs of the Camden, NJ community. Cooper has a Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) officer.

We encourage you to view some of the diversity initiatives and information about groups and resources available within our department, the GME, CMSRU, and the CUHC as a whole:
