Fellows spend approximately 12-16 weeks participating in one of the program's focused pathways under the mentorship of senior faculty members. Track experiences are individualized and may be distributed longitudinally throughout the fellowship year rather than completed in a single block, allowing fellows to balance clinical responsibilities with scholarly work, mentorship, and professional development activities. The available fellowship pathways include:

The Clinical Research Track provides dedicated mentorship in clinical and outcomes research, quality improvement methodology, study design, data analysis, manuscript preparation, and scientific presentation. Fellows collaborate with faculty investigators while developing a scholarly project aligned with their academic interests.

The Medical Education Track for fellows who would like to spend more time on clinical services. It also prepares fellows for careers in academic hospital medicine through additional opportunities in bedside teaching, learner assessment, curriculum development, and mentorship of residents and medical students.

The Medical Informatics Track introduces fellows to the principles of clinical informatics, electronic health record optimization, clinical decision support tools, workflow analysis, healthcare analytics, quality dashboards, and digital innovation initiatives.

The Hospital Administration Track provides exposure to healthcare operations and leadership through participation in meetings with hospital and physician leadership, including divisional and health system executives. Fellows gain insight into quality metrics, utilization management, healthcare finance, billing and documentation practices, and institutional decision-making through, leadership meetings.

In addition to their individualized track experiences, fellows complete a comprehensive core clinical curriculum that provides advanced training across the breadth of hospital medicine. Clinical experiences are intentionally distributed throughout the academic year to promote longitudinal learning, progressive responsibility, and continuity with mentors and multidisciplinary teams.
