Faculty

Dr. Gilrain serves as the Director of Behavioral Medicine at Cooper University Hospital. Her undergraduate is in Psychology from Hunter College - CUNY on the Upper East Side in Manhattan. She remained there for her Master's degree focusing on eating behaviors and diversity. She took time off from academics to explore careers in medicine and psychology working at the American Red Cross, Helene Fuld Medical Center and Princeton University Wellness Center. She opted to return to graduate school at Drexel University pursuing a PhD in Clinical Psychology with a focus in Health Psychology.

She has worked in Health Psychology for the past 15 years within the following areas: somatic/conversion disorders, in particular PNES at Jefferson University Hospital, Temple's cardiac transplant unit and burn unit and at Pennsylvania Hospital in the Consultation-Liaison Service. She has completed training and evaluations at various neuropsychology clinics on the Philadelphia area focused on both health and forensic concerns. Her interests lie in chronic medical issues, end of life concerns, death and dying, trauma, behavioral medicine program development and provider wellness.

She has taught Psychology and Humanities courses in college and universities in the NY and Philadelphia area over the past 24 years. She holds Academic Professorships at Cooper Medical School at Rowan University (CMSRU) as well as Rowan University.

She has been with Cooper since 2010 and developed and implemented the Consultation-Liaison Service within the Medical Hospital under the Department of Hospital Medicine. She has supervised psychology externs since 2010 and has presented at national conferences with Society of Behavioral Medicine (SBM) discussing ways to further Health Psychology programs and training in Academic Medical Centers. She and her team have a robust externship program and are in process of seeking an APA Accredited Psychology Internship program as well.

Dr. AuBuchon is a licensed clinical psychologist at Cooper University Health Care. After completing her postdoctoral fellowship in clinical health psychology at Cooper in 2024, Dr. AuBuchon joined the faculty and has continued her work integrating Behavioral Medicine services within Primary Care. She has obtained extensive training in cognitive-behavioral interventions for adult mood, anxiety, and trauma-related disorders, including within healthcare settings. Thus far, her research has primarily focused on perinatal mood and anxiety disorders, which informs her clinical practice and behavioral treatment of these concerns.

Dr. AuBuchon has also contributed to health care provider well-being efforts, particularly related to mindfulness. She is interested in the connection between physical and emotional health and is dedicated to collaborating with primary care physicians to help provide care for the whole person.

Anastasia Bullock, Psy.D., is a licensed clinical psychologist specializing in health psychology within Cooper University Healthcare System since 2017. Dr. Bullock provides patient care, as well as coordinates and supervises graduate students on the Behavioral Medicine consultation-liaison service. She also holds a faculty position within Cooper Medical School at Rowan University, teaching medical students on rotation with the Behavioral Medicine team.

Dr. Bullock is actively engaged in research within health psychology, including quality indicators of consultation-liaison psychology, trauma, and weight and eating with articles in peer reviewed publications. She is a member of the Association for Psychologists in Academic Health Centers, Society of Behavioral Medicine, and American Psychological Association.

Michael DeAngelo, Psy.D., is a licensed clinical psychologist specializing in health psychology within Cooper University Healthcare System. Dr. DeAngelo provides patient care, as well as coordinates and supervises Behavioral Medicine graduate students in the outpatient offices of the Early Intervention Program. He also holds an adjunct faculty position with Rowan University, teaching undergraduate students in the Psychology Department. In addition, Dr. DeAngelo is an affiliate of the Postpartum Stress Center in Bryn Mawr, PA.

Dr. Doremus is a licensed clinical psychologist who specializes in health psychology at Cooper University Health Care. In addition to providing direct patient care he supervises psychology trainees (pre-doctoral externs and interns as well as post-doctoral fellows) on the Behavioral Medicine Consultation-Liaison service. His specific clinical focus involves patients who engage in aggression and care-interfering behaviors, developing personalized behavioral care plans, and supporting staff in effective engagement with this population.

Dr. Doremus's current research aims to develop an adaptive psychological pain intervention which can be effectively delivered in a brief clinical setting. Additionally, he seeks to expand current understanding of the composition and role of psychological consultation-liaison teams in acute care settings, and has published his work in peer-reviewed journals. He is an active member of the Association for Psychologists in Academic Health Centers, New Jersey Psychological Association, and the American Psychological Association. 

Dr. Fishman is a licensed clinical psychologist with specialization in health psychology and psycho-oncology. Since completing a fellowship at Cooper in 2023, Dr. Fishman has joined the faculty and continued her work in oncology and on the general Consultation-Liaison Service. Along with provision of direct patient care, Dr. Fishman works alongside Dr. Fizur in the postdoctoral residency program. She provides supervision to externs, interns, and postdoctoral fellows on the consultation-liaison service. She is involved in quality improvement, development, and research as a member of Cooper's Improvement of Care at End-of-Life Committee and serves on the general and ambulatory bioethics committees. She is a member of the Association for Psychologists in Academic Health Centers, Society of Behavioral Medicine, and American Psychological Association.

Dr. Fizur's clinical and research focus remains on health psychology, neuropsychology, and the integration of technology to promote advances in these areas. His research and clinical work has focused on the cognitive and behavioral correlates of various acute and chronic illnesses as well as interventions to address these correlates, with specific focus on cancer and diabetes. The work of he and his colleagues mainly targets adaptive coping with illness as well as adherence to medical treatment and common barriers thereof, most frequently comorbid depression, anxiety, and trauma. 

To improve assessment and intervention outside of the clinic, he has both created and studied web-based, mobile-friendly applications through which patients can extend the effects of treatments such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy for depression and anxiety, track symptoms of their medical illnesses, manage medications, and receive reminders of content discussed during face-to-face meetings. 

More recently, Philip has been afforded the opportunity to begin integrating psychological services into the primary care space at Cooper's Urban Health Institute with the goal of improving physical wellness by addressing symptoms of depression, anxiety, and trauma that often exacerbate many common health conditions. Inspired by the physicians of UHI, the overarching goal of this program is to address social inequities in physical and mental health treatment and outcomes.  As a board member of the Association of Psychologists in Academic Health Centers he strives to better understand and help overcome barriers to effective dissemination and implementation of evidenced based interventions in healthcare.

Dr. Hays is a licensed clinical psychologist, in New Jersey and New York, specializing in health psychology and has worked at Cooper University Healthcare System since 2021. She is currently serving as the Wellness Psychologist and in that role responsible for program development and support of ongoing efforts across multiple levels of the CUH system to promote work-life balance, professional fulfillment, and resiliency amongst employees. She also provides patient care as well as supports the training of graduate students and postdoctoral students on the Behavioral Medicine consultation-liaison service across several settings. Within the hospital, she serves on several committees including Resiliency Resources Team, Graduate Medical Education Wellness Committee, and Physician Wellness Committee.

Dr. Hays received her undergraduate education at Bucknell University and earned her MS and PhD in Clinical Psychology (health emphasis) from Drexel University. She completed both internship and postdoctoral residency in clinical health psychology at VA Connecticut Healthcare System during which time she also held an academic appointment at Yale School of Medicine. She has published in peer-reviewed journals as well as serves as reviewer for scholarly publications. Dr. Hays is a member of the Association for Psychologists in Academic Health Centers, the American Psychological Association, and Society of Behavioral Medicine.

Cori E. McMahon, Psy.D. is a licensed clinical psychologist specializing in health psychology who has 20 years' experience in direct clinical care, graduate psychology and medical instruction, clinical supervision, and program administration across behavioral health, academic, and medical settings. She has served as Director of Behavioral Medicine within Cooper University Healthcare system since 2009; focusing her clinical work in chronic disease management and overseeing a Behavioral Medicine training program that has served MD Anderson Cancer Center at Cooper, EIP/Department of Infectious Disease, Ob-Gyn, Bariatric & Metabolic Surgery, and inpatient C&L service. She holds a faculty position with Cooper Medical School of Rowan University, instructing medical students who rotate with the Behavioral Medicine team and has taught psychology courses at La Salle University since 2002, including serving as visiting faculty for LaSalle's graduate psychology programs in Athens, Greece and Prague, Czech Republic.

Dr. McMahon has a record of health psychology research, publication, and presentations, particularly in the area of psycho oncology, and remains engaged in projects focused on integrated behavioral healthcare in medical settings, and the use of digital tools to enhance patient engagement, health literacy, and improved doctor-patient communication. She is a member of the Society of Behavioral Medicine, is a National Certified Custody Evaluator, and also serves as VP of Clinical Services for Tridiuum, Inc., a health technology company based in Philadelphia.

Dr. Goldstein Silverman is a licensed psychologist in Pennsylvania and New Jersey and Assistant Professor of Psychiatry and Psychology at The Cooper University Hospital and Healthcare System.  Her functions at Cooper include conducting pre-operative bariatric evaluations and pre- and post-operative psychotherapy with patients enrolled in the Cooper Center for Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery, as well as psychotherapy and psychological evaluations with other outpatient populations with co-morbid medical and mental health conditions.  She is also involved developing a comprehensive outpatient behavioral support program for bariatric patients in collaboration with the bariatric dieticians.  She teaches and provides individual supervision to psychiatry residents, medical students and post-doctoral residents in clinical health psychology; her seminars include Motivational Interviewing, Theories of Counseling and Psychotherapy and Dialectical Behavior Therapy and Group Therapy.

Dr. Goldstein Silverman received her undergraduate education at The University of Texas at Austin, her M.A. and Ed.M. degrees in Psychological Counseling at Teachers College, Columbia University and her Ph.D. in Counseling Psychology from Temple University, where she was the 2006 recipient of the Frank and Mary Ann Dattilio Education Award from the Pennsylvania Psychological Association.  Her pre-doctoral internship in clinical psychology was completed at The Trenton Psychiatric Hospital, and her post-doctoral residency in clinical health psychology was completed at the VA Connecticut Healthcare System.  Subsequently, she spent 5 years as the Associate Director for the Student Counseling Center on the Hahnemann Center City Campus of Drexel University.  Dr. Goldstein Silverman has been a faculty member at Drexel University, The University of New Haven, Temple University and Teachers College, Columbia University; she is a member of the Society for Behavioral Medicine, Division 38 (Health Psychology) and Division 17 (Counseling Psychology) of the American Psychological Association and of the Pennsylvania Psychological Association and has co-authored several publications in peer-reviewed journals. She was recently recognized by South Jersey Magazine as a Reader's Choice in 2017.

Kate Terrell, PsyD, earned her doctoral degree in psychology at Widener University's Institute for Graduate Clinical Psychology, with specializations in neuropsychology and school psychology. She completed neuropsychology internships at various settings across the lifespan, including private practices focusing on child and adolescent assessment, as well as the outpatient neurology department at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania. Dr. Terrell completed her post-doctoral fellowship at an outpatient pediatric neuropsychological assessment clinic (LEAP) at Massachusetts General Hospital/Harvard Medical School, and then continued her work at a neuropsychological private practice in Pennsylvania. Dr. Terrell is a licensed clinical psychologist in New Jersey and Pennsylvania. She conducts comprehensive outpatient neuropsychological evaluations, and primarily sees children and adolescents with neurodevelopmental conditions, such as ADHD, autism spectrum disorder, various learning disabilities, language disorders, and intellectual disability, among others. Given her training and experience, she is able to apply principles of neuropsychology, school psychology, and clinical psychology when delivering care.
