Anesthesiology Residency Program

The ACGME-accredited Anesthesiology Residency at Cooper Medical School of Rowan University is a four-year, competency-based program with 10 residents per class, combining high-volume clinical training with close faculty mentorship.

Exceptional Clinical Experience 

Our residents manage 60,000+ anesthetic cases annually across five teaching sites, including:

• Cooper University Hospital, Level I Trauma Center affiliated with MD Anderson Cancer Center and regional referral center for neurosurgery, ENT, heart failure with mechanical support (LVAD), and many other surgical subspecialties
• Moorestown Ambulatory Surgery Center, high volume orthopedics and various outpatient surgeries
• Voorhees Ambulatory Surgery Center, orthopedics and pediatric outpatient surgeries
• Cooper Specialty Care at Willingboro, outpatient gastroenterology procedures
• Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia (CHOP) for pediatric anesthesia rotation.

One of the standout features of our program is the extensive regional anesthesia training at our ambulatory sites. Residents perform an exceptional volume of regional blocks, ranking in the top 10% nationally for regional block numbers. This unparalleled hands-on exposure equips our graduates with advanced skills in regional anesthesia, making them highly sought-after for fellowships and careers in private practice or academic medicine. 

Additionally, our pediatric anesthesia rotation at the world-renowned Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia (CHOP) offers residents unmatched exposure to pediatric cases, rounding out a diverse and comprehensive clinical experience.

Diverse and Comprehensive Training 

Our program offers 10 categorical positions/year, beginning with a Clinical Base Year alongside categorical medicine and surgical interns, followed by hundreds of cases annually across cardiac, neuro, obstetric, regional, and ambulatory subspecialties.
