Throughout my residency, I have found great joy in outpatient medicine and the opportunity to develop lasting relationships with my patients. As mentioned, before medicine I pursued documentary filmmaking, and I have since found that the observational and communication skills honed during that time have been an asset in developing my own patient relationships as well as influencing my desire for patient continuity. I have come to appreciate the value of building trust and open communication with patients, as it enhances their overall experience and facilitates shared decision-making.

My journey into rheumatology isn't just a career path—it's a passionate pursuit of understanding and healing in the face of complexity. The field of rheumatology offers the opportunity to delve into the intricate interactions between immunology, musculoskeletal health, and systemic diseases. Moreover, my dedication to the field demands a commitment to lifelong learning. Each case is an intricate mosaic of a person and their condition and will provide continuous opportunities for growth and discovery. As I pursue a career as a clinical rheumatologist, my approach will extend beyond treating the disease itself to encompass the comprehensive well-being of the patient in treatment strategies. I will tackle the next steps in my career with curiosity, tenacity to seek the best solution, and a resolve to engage the patient in their own health care.
