Our Research
Division of Gynecologic Oncology
Advancing the understanding and treatment of gynecologic cancers is a core mission of our division. All faculty remain actively involved in clinical trials research, participating in NRG Oncology, GOG Partners, MD Anderson Cancer Center, and industry-sponsored studies. In addition, our division conducts a variety of investigator-initiated prospective and retrospective studies, with the collaborative support of our gynecologic oncology fellows, OB/GYN residents, and medical students from CMSRU.
Our basic science research program, now under the leadership of Luke Chen, PhD, Director of Surgical Research and Professor of Surgery at CMSRU, continues to explore the role of NRF2 in high-grade serous ovarian cancer. The lab’s work is supported by over $150,000 in donations, with the goal of securing RO1 funding to expand our research impact.
Through this combined focus on clinical trials and laboratory investigation, our division strives to translate discoveries from bench to bedside, improving treatment outcomes and offering our patients access to the latest advances in gynecologic oncology.
Contributions to Literature
Over the past academic year, the division has contributed significantly to the scientific and educational literature.
Notable recent publications include studies on preoperative risk stratification, immunotherapy for recurrent ovarian cancer, fertility-preserving surgery in cervical cancer, and molecular classification of endometrial cancers. Faculty also contributed to key educational resources for medical students and residents, emphasizing both clinical expertise and professional development.
This robust academic output underscores our division’s dedication to advancing patient care, mentoring the next generation of gynecologic oncologists, and contributing to the global body of knowledge in gynecologic oncology.
