The curriculum utilizes many of the learning methods with which you have become familiar during your residency. The year is broken up into thirteen 4-week blocks. There will be six or seven blocks of palliative inpatient care, approximately 5 blocks of home hospice and inpatient hospice care, as well as blocks in long-term care, research time, longitudinal outpatient experience, and electives that may include interventional pain management, administration, HIV/AIDS, neuro, trauma, psych, etc.
Hospice experiences are shared with partner hospices and pediatrics is delivered through partnership with Nemours/Alfred I. DuPont Pediatric Palliative Care Program.
There is a highly developed didactic educational component for the HPM fellowship at Cooper that includes dedicated and protected learning time for lecture, role play scenario, small group sessions, grand rounds, M&M, and journal club.
Sessions are delivered weekly and are delivered by a multidisciplinary group of educators who will deliver a wide range of experiences for education of the fellow.
