The Hematology/Oncology Fellowship is a three-year program. Outpatients are followed during the first, second, and third years. The first year emphasizes management of both inpatients and outpatients. The second year involves less patient responsibility, more elective time, and initiation of research projects. The third year emphasizes research responsibilities. The program offers teaching in the management of malignant and nonmalignant hematologic disorders and solid tumors; experience in molecular biology, coagulation, blood bank, and laboratories; and participation in CALGB, MD Anderson, NSABP, and RTOG treatments and basic science protocols. Candidates must be board-eligible/ certified in internal medicine.
