Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS)

Course Description:

The AHA'S ACLS Course has been updated to reflect new science in the 2010 American Heart Association Guidelines for Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation and Emergency Cardiovascular Care.  This advanced course highlights the importance of team dynamics and communication, systems of care and immediate post-cardiac arrest care where case-based scenarios are presented. ACLS also covers airway management and related pharmacology. For successful course completion, students must demonstrate skills competency In all learning stations, pass the CPR AED skills test, bag mask ventilation skills test and the Megacode test. They also must pass the written test with a score of 84% or higher. Upon successful completion, students receive an ACLS course completion card, valid for two years.

Intended Audience:

The ACLS Course is designed for healthcare professionals who either direct or participate In the management of cardiopulmonary arrest or other cardiovascular emergencies. This includes personnel in emergency response, emergency medicine, Intensive care and critical care units such as physicians, nurses, and paramedics, as well as others who need an ACLS course completion card for job or other requirements  

Prerequisites: Participants must possess a current AHA Basic Life Support/CPR for Healthcare Providers card.

Fees: $300.00 for non-Cooper Staff. Renewals are $200.00 for non-Cooper Staff

Course Materials: Pre-course information and the mandatory pre-test will be sent to you upon receipt of your completed registration form. IF YOU DO NOT RECEIVE THE ABOVE INFORMATION TWO WEEKS AFTER SUBMITTING YOUR REGISTRATION FORM, PLEASE CONTACT THE LIFE SUPPORT TRAINING CENTER AT (856) 342-2009. It is suggested that all participants read the ACLS Provider Manual. This manual is available for purchase at the life support office for $35.00. Also available to help you prepare for this course is an Emergency Cardiovascular Care (ECC) handbook available through the Life Support Training Center for an additional $25.00.

Refund Policy: For Cooper Employees, a non-refundable cancellation fee of $100.00 will be charged to Cooper employees who cancel less than 14 days prior to the date of the course. A "no-show" fee of $175.00 will be charged to Cooper employees who do not show for the course.

Non-Cooper Employees: Cancellation for all ACLS courses must take place 2 weeks( 14 days) prior to the date of the course for a full tuition refund. THERE WILL BE NO REFUNDS OR TRANSFERRING  TO ANOTHER COURSE FOR CANCELLATIONS WITHIN TWO WEEKS OF THE COURSE DATE.
